Hype Exclusive: Greensky Bluegrass @ Springfest

The best way to describe Greensky Bluegrass is to just say these guys live to play music. Paul Levine, Festival Director for Big IV Productions who put on Springfest, Said it best when he said “There wasn’t a set all weekend that these guys turned down.” The guys met up with Hype backstage at Springfest to shoot a couple songs and some photos in front of their bad ass new RV truck thing.
Greensky was formed in Kalamazoo, MI, by Banjo player Michael Arlen Bont, Guitarist Dave Bruzza and Mandolin player Paul Hoffman. The 14 year-old americana bluegrass band are no strangers to the festival scene and have been touring nonstop since the groups inception.
Greensky played two sets at Springfest this year drawing in a good crowd of bluegrass lovers. Since their first time at Springfest last year they have quickly become a favorite of the devoted followers of the Suwannee Music Park festivals.

Also not to be forgotten are the vocal and bass talents of Mike Devol and of course the masterful dobro skills of Anders Beck.

Greensky’s live performance is highly energetic with jammed out bluegrass songs that make bands like Mumford and Sons look like the noobs that they are in the bluegrass scene.
